Baramulla, June 22 (KNO) : A non local militant was killed in a brief gunfire between government forces and militants in Bujthalan forest area of Boniyar North Kashmir Baramulla district this morning. Top officials revealed to KNO that perhaps the militant was part of a group that had sneaked into this side—the first infiltration of this year so far. A senior police officer told KNO that a joint team of 6 JAKLI of Army,53 BN BN CRPF, Police and SOG Baramulla received credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area and launched a massive cordon and search operation in the area. “An unidentified militant, who is believed to be a Pakistani resident, was killed. Search for the possibility of more militants in the area is on. It seems he was part of a group that had managed to sneak in. His associates may be hiding somewhere or gone back to other side of the fence. Mopping operation is on,” he said. The official told KNO that body of slain was recovered with arms and ammunition from dense forests after brief gunfight with forces. Police meanwhile said that from the incriminating material recovered from the site of encounter, the slain militant has been identified as foreigner from Pakistan and is believed to be from JeM. “Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter and has been taken into case records to probe their complicity in other cases. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the matter,” the statement reads. With the efforts of Police and forces, it was a clean operation, police said, adding that no collateral damage happened during the encounter. Meanwhile, police appealed people not to venture inside encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials.(KNO)
